M&M Cookies

I baked!! And it was edible! And they got me onto foodgawker! Who knew baking was so cool?

M&M Cookies

makes about 13 medium/large cookies / adapted from this recipe

Here’s what I used:

  • 1/2 cup of butter, softened (doesn’t “1/2 cup” sound so much better than “1 stick”?)
  • 3/4 cup of white sugar
  • 1/2 cup of light brown sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 2 eggs, room temp
  • 1 1/4 cups flour
  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 bags of M&Ms
  • 1/4 cup chocolate jimmies

Here’s what I did:

  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or spray it with cooking spray.
  2. In a large bowl, mix the butter, white sugar, brown sugar and vanilla until creamy and smooth with an electric mixer. Slowly beat in the eggs.
  3. In another bowl, whisk the flour, baking soda and salt together thoroughly. Slowly add the flour mixture to the egg mixtures until well blended. Add 1 bag of the M&Ms and the chocolate jimmies and mix carefully.
  4. Using an ice cream scoop, drop the dough onto the cooking sheets, leaving a couple of inches around each cookie. Add the remaining M&Ms on top of the cookies and bake for 8-10 minutes until lightly browned. Cool on a wire rack and eat them all.
